A remote designed for young kids?

While perusing Pinterest I came across this remote that is designed specifically for kids. Parents can program 7 channels in and then the kids can channel surf at their leisure.

I am not entirely sure of my opinion of it. On the one hand I think it is great to ensure that the kids don't come across any non-kid friendly channel. But then on the other hand, I don't know if I want my kids watching enough TV that they would need their own remote.

What do you think? Would you buy this for your kid?

  1. I feel that I am really torn. On one side, I think that it would give the child better understanding of being proactive while watching TV, but at the same time I agree with you. I wouldn't want my child watching so much that they need a remote.

  2. Hmmm, maybe. I don't really let my kids channel surf, but they do know how to push 120 (for nick jr) and 33 (for disney jr), so I guess this would just make it easier! I'm cheap though, so probably wouldn't end up buying it in the end! :)

  3. I don't think I like this idea. Like others have said, it does help ensure that children are only on channel you want them to watch...but I also don't think children should be watching that much TV. I wouldn't buy it personally.
